AUSTIN — An Austin man was one of four people arrested Friday for allegedly soliciting a minor online, according to the Texas Attorney General’s office.
Austin Lyman Bishop, 32, of Austin; Timmy Varela, 22, of Bellville; Montreyle Devon McCormick, 24, of Plano, and Chad Christian Clift, 35 of College Station were all arrested as part of a joint operation between the AG’s Child Exploitation Unit and the Brenham Police Department.
Brenham Police and the AG’s office said the four people who were arrested used theInternet to sexually solicit and then travel with the intent of committing sex crimes against minors.
“I am grateful for the men and women in the Attorney General’s Child Exploitation Unit and the Brenham Police Department who worked tirelessly to bring these individuals into custody,” said Attorney General Ken Paxton. “The success of this operation is testimony to the hard work and dedication of the law enforcement officers who bring predators threatening the safety of our children to justice.”
