California Wildfires

Firefighters are currently battling two major wildfires, the Camp fire and Woolsey fire, in California. The Camp fire has set some grim, new records by rapidly becoming one of the most destructive and deadly wildfires to hit the U.S. in the last century. According to authorities, around half of the Camp fire has been contained.

Recently, wildfires in California have burned an average of over 200,000 acres (80,937 ha) a year. In 2018, the Mendocino fire became the largest ever recorded in modern California. The destruction and losses to the communities hit by wildfires can be overwhelming. Coping and dealing with natural disasters is a difficult and long process.
