Daycare Owner In Republic Charged With Child Abuse

A woman from Republic, who was running an unlicensed daycare in her home, has been charged with abuse.

Prosecutors say Samantha Dillbeck is accused of causing head trauma to 8-month-old Grayson Barnhart while he was under her care.

Dillbeck told investigators Grayson had fallen over multiple times from a seated position the same day the toddler was found unresponsive by emergency responders.

In the probable cause statement that outlines details of the investigation, doctors say Grayson suffered at least two separate episodes of violent abusive head injuries.

On March 21st, 2017, the Republic Police Department began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding an 8 month old victim found unresponsive at M&M Daycare. During the course of this investigation, Republic Police investigators worked closely with the Greene County Prosecutor’s Officer and numerous medical professionals to determine how and when the injury to the victim occurred. Once all the information had been collected, the case was submitted to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for charging purposes. After a review of the facts surrounding the injury to the 8 month old victim, an arrest warrant was issued for the primary child care provider of M&M Daycare; Samantha R. Dillbeck.

On today’s date (May 17th, 2017) at approximately 3:30 p.m., Greene County Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Samantha R. Dillbeck based off the facts contained in the investigation. Republic Police located Mrs. Dillbeck at her home where she was arrested. Mrs. Dillbeck was transported her to Greene County Jail where she is being held on $25,000 bond.
