HUDSON VALLEY MAN SEXUALLY ABUSED CHILD, KEPT IMAGES OF SEXUAL ABUSE

A Hudson Valley man received a significant prison sentence for sexually abusing a young girl, keeping images of the abuse and possessing child porn.

In White Plains federal court, 60-year-old Edward Diaz of Campbell Hall was sentenced over 17 years in prison, stemming from his sexual exploitation of a minor, related child pornography offenses and attempts to hinder the federal investigation concerning his criminal conduct.

According to the allegations in court:

On or about April 1, 2016, Diaz used his personal email to send himself an email attaching three images of child pornography.
Diaz’s internet service provider flagged the email as potentially containing child pornography and provided it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
A representative reviewed the email, confirmed child porn, and notified the United States Postal Inspection Service.
On June 13, 2016, agents interviewed Diaz at his home.
During the interview, agents noticed a laptop in the home. Diaz denied using his laptop to view child pornography.
Agents left to obtain a search warrant, but when they returned the laptop was gone.
Diaz, at first, told officials he didn’t own a laptop, but later said it was out for repair.
The laptop hasn’t been recovered.
During a subsequent search of Diaz’s home, agents found an SD Card.
An FBI forensic analysis, revealed five deleted images of child porn on the SD card.
Some images showed a pre-pubescent girl engaged in a sex act with Diaz.
“Edward Diaz sexually abused a child, and then kept digital images depicting that abuse,” Acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon H. Kim said. “For his predatory conduct, Diaz received the significant prison term his crime deserves.”
