Man arrested on child porn charges bragged about raping 4-year-old, prosecutors say

A Boylston man indicted on child pornography charges bragged to another internet user about raping a four-year-old girl, federal agents investigating the case allege.

Randy Alan Chaplis, 33, was formally indicted on one count of possessing child pornography and one count of distribution in federal court Thursday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Massachusetts. Chaplis was charged following a month-long investigation into his alleged online exploits.

Last February, undercover agents had Chaplis send two emails that included dozens of images of child pornography.

The images involved prepubescent girls engaged in sex acts with older men. Authorities said Chaplis also possessed pornography involving a minor who was younger than 12 years old, according to U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Undercover agents also received emails from Chaplis stating that he likes three-to-10 year olds, and that he has “fun” with his girlfriend’s young daughter when her mother is not home.

Chaplis allegedly detailed graphic descriptions of sex acts he performed on the child since she was a toddler.

According to a criminal complaint related to the case, Chaplin bragged to another internet user about having sex with a 4-year-old girl, and asked an undercover agent if they’d have sex with their infant daughter when she turned 4, according to U.S. Attorney’s Office.

On March 15, federal agents searched Chaplis’ house and seized an external hard drive and desktop computer. Police said they recovered multiple images of child pornography from the devices.

According to court documents filed in U.S. District Court in Worcester, Chaplis admitted to being the user of the email account in question.

Chaplis now faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines if proved guilty.
