BELLE GLADE, Fla. (CBS12) —
A mother accused of the unimaginable.
LaChanzee Horbbs, 25, is accused of threatening to put her 1-month-old baby girl in a dumpster in Belle Glade.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrested Horbbs on a charge of child abuse.
A witness told deputies she and LaChanzee got into a fight on Tuesday night. The witness, who is the legal guardian of the baby, said LaChanzee walked away with her baby girl and held her over a garbage dumpster near 5th Street and Avenue D. Investigators said when a man tried to get the baby away from the mother, LaChanzee “forcefully thrust the baby outward from her body in an aggressive manner…violent enough to cause the baby’s head to snap back.” A witness ultimately pulled the baby to safety, according to the sheriff’s office.
Horbbs confessed to shaking her baby with force and holding the baby girl near the dumpster. She already bonded out of jail and is currently being investigated by the Department of Children and Families.
As for the one-month-old baby girl she was treated and cleared at a local hospital.
DCF would not say who is taking care of the child at this moment.
