Palmer Township man charged in child porn probe

Palmer Township man, who told Pennsylvania authorities that he’s “not really into” child porn, had at least two such videos and more than 10 such photos on a home computer and was watching twice a week, court papers filed by prosecutors say.

A special agent with the state Attorney General’s Office Child Predator Section on June 2 was keeping an eye on peer-to-peer networks where Internet users share files, court papers say. He noticed at least 12 files tied to a specific Internet protocol address used by an Ares file-sharing user known as Ron_Salvage, court papers say.

One of the files was a video showing an adult male raping a girl, who appeared to be between 7 and 10, the agent said in court papers.

Further investigation and an administrative subpoena led to a home at 220 Applewood Drive in Palmer Township, the agent said.

The agent on Aug. 21 took a look at the home, then on Wednesday got a search warrant, which was executed Thursday by special agents, Palmer Township police and the FBI out of Allentown.

It was determined Antonio Denardo, 28, was at work in Hampton, Hunterdon County, so the agent and another special agent visited Denardo there, court papers say.

When he was advised he wasn’t under arrest but that a search warrant had been served due to computer activity in the home, Denardo said, “I’m not really into that,” court papers say. When asked what he wasn’t into, he said, “pornography,” later clarifying, “child pornography,” court papers say.

Denardo admitted his name on the Ares peer-to-peer software is Ron Salvage, the agent said.

When asked to continue the discussion at the Palmer police headquarters, Denardo agreed, the agent said.

Once he gave up his Miranda rights, Denardo provided a written statement there, court papers say. Denardo explained he first saw child porn at a friend’s house and recently had been viewing it about twice a week, the agent said. The youngest child in content Denardo downloaded was about 6, he told authorities, court papers say.

Denardo was arraigned Thursday afternoon before District Judge Jacqueline Taschner on 12 counts of child pornography and single counts of disseminating photos/film of child sex acts and criminal use of a communication device, court papers say.

Bail was set at 10 percent of $25,000, court papers say. Denardo remained Friday morning in Northampton County Prison, online records show. If he were to make bail, Denardo could have no contact with minors and can’t use computers or the Internet, Taschner ordered.

A preliminary hearing was tentatively set for 9 a.m. Oct. 8.
