POLICE BLOTTER: Pender man faces cocaine, child abuse charges

PENDER COUNTY — A Willard man arrested Wednesday by narcotics detective with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office faces cocaine and child abuse charges.

The arrest of Vaughn Develle Pearsall, 46, follows an investigation that began in April concerning the sale of illegal narcotics, Capt. James Rowell of the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Pearsall is charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to sell and/or deliver cocaine, and misdemeanor child abuse. He is in the Pender County jail with no bail set, Rowell said.

Pearsall was arrested after a traffic stop on U.S. 117 North in Pender County, according to the release. At the time of his arrest, an unrelated child was in the vehicle with Pearsall and narcotics were seized, Rowell said.
