Refugee Students Give Back by Helping Others in Need

A group of teens in Fargo, North Dakota, have created the state’s first student-run food pantry to help adults and children in their community. The teens partnered with a local program called the Legacy Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit that was developed by Fargo teenagers in 2011. They named their project K.I.D.S. for “Kindness Is Doing Service.” In addition to running the food pantry, the students provide soup and handmade blankets to a local homeless shelter and deliver food to people who need help getting groceries. Many of the K.I.D.S. students came to the United States as refugees, and now they feel good about giving back to their neighbors.
