Josh Duggar has admitted himself to rehab less than one week after confessing cheating on his wife Anna and having an addiction to pornography.
It was revealed that Duggar signed up with the infidelity website Ashley Madison and that he had sexual contact with the women he met on the site.
“We are so thankful for the outpouring of love, care and prayers for our family during this most difficult situation with Josh,” read a statement posted to the Duggar family website on Aug. 26.
“As parents we are so deeply grieved by our son’s decisions and actions. His wrong choices have deeply hurt his precious wife and children and have negatively affected so many others. He has also brought great insult to the values and faith we hold dear,” the statement continued.
“Yesterday Josh checked himself into a long-term treatment center. For him it will be a long journey toward wholeness and recovery. We pray that in this he comes to complete repentance and sincere change,” the family remarked.
Also mentioned in the statement was daughter-in-law Anna Duggar, whom has stood by her husband’s side despite attempts from family members, including her brother Daniel, to leave her husband.
“In the meantime, we will be offering our love, care and devoted support to Anna and our grandchildren as she also receives counsel and help for her own heart and future. During this time we continue to look to God, He is our rock and comfort. We ask for your continued prayers for our entire family,” the statement concluded.
According to People Magazine, a source was quoted as saying of Duggar, “There was always something a bit odd about Josh.”
Scandal continues to rock this faith-filled family, who were sent reeling that a family secret was revealed online that Duggar had molested five underage girls as a teenager, including two of his sisters, Jessa and Jill Duggar.
Josh and Anna married in 2008 and have four children together. Reportedly, Anna Duggar was five months pregnant with their fourth child, Meredith Grace, when Duggar had his first affair.
