2 arrested in Bay Area, 2 in U.K. on child porn charges

San Francisco police announced the results of a long-running international child pornography investigation Friday that led to the arrests of a San Francisco woman, a man in Marin County and a married couple in the United Kingdom, all of whom had allegedly been engaged in either the production or distribution of child porn.

The investigation, conducted by the San Francisco Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit in conjunction with the FBI, began in April when investigators served a search warrant at the home of 40-year-old Kori Nicole Ellis, at an undisclosed location in San Francisco, said Officer Grace Gatpandan, a police spokeswoman.

Investigators found a laptop and thumb drives containing hundred of images and videos depicting children engaged in sexual acts with adults. Some of the children were as young as 1 year old, Gatpandan said.

Ellis was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, possession of over 600 files of child pornography, and possession of child pornography involving sadomasochism, Gatpandan said.

As investigators worked through the evidence, they discovered that Ellis had allegedly beenCOMMUNICATING with several minors in other states and had convinced them to send explicit pictures of themselves to her over the internet, Gatpandan said.

Beyond that, Ellis had allegedly been communicating with dozens of other adults about child porn and pedophilia in online chat rooms, Gatpandan said, which she had used to both send and receive images of child pornography.

One chat in particular, officials said, involved a married couple in the United Kingdom. According to Gatpandan, Ellis allegedly directed the couple to molest their infant child.

“From the responses, it appeared that the couple would follow her direction,” Gatpandan said in a statement.

The couple’s residence was raided in May and five minors were taken into protective custody, Gatpandan said. The investigation in the United Kingdom is continuing.

Investigators in San Francisco were also able to identify a Marin County man who had seemingly met with Ellis in person to trade child porn, Gatpandan said.

On Aug. 28, FBI agents and officers from San Francisco served a search warrant at the Novato home of 29-year-old Patrick Harvey. He was taken into federal custody, where he remains, but his case is under seal in the U.S. District Court of Northern California so the details of his status weren’t immediately available.

On Aug. 11, Ellis was indicted on federal charges in U.S. District Court — including possession of child pornography, receipt of child pornography, distribution of child pornography and production of child pornography, Gatpandan said.

She also remains in custody.
