On April 1, 2020, Mexican Federal Police and the United State Marshals Service’s (USMS) Mexico Investigative Liaison (MIL) Division in Tucson, Arizona, worked together in the recovery of a child who was abducted by his father, Jesus Elias-Moreno, out of Sparks, Nevada.

On March 31, 2020, Jesus Elias-Moreno allegedly took his 6 year old son without the consent of his estranged wife and drove to Mexico. It was reported that the father was a methamphetamine user.

Jesus Elias-Moreno was stopped by Mexican Federal Police in Sonora, Mexico, near the U.S. border.

Mexican Federal Police contacted the USMS MIL, who discovered Elias-Moreno was a subject in a Parental Abduction case out of Sparks, Nevada. Elias-Moreno was detained temporarily and the child has been reunited with his mother.

The United States Marshals Service is the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency. Annually, U.S. Marshals arrest more than 50 percent of all federal fugitives and serve more federal and state warrants than all other federal agencies combined.
