Abusive teen girl gang ‘run amok’ in Portmarnock supermarket leaving shoppers ‘disgusted’ | #socialmedia | #children

A gang of teenage girls “ran amok” in a north Dublin supermarket, allegedly attempting to steal and damage stock while shouting abuse at customers.

The shocking anti-social behaviour took place at a supermarket on Strand Road in Portmarnock at around 9:30pm on Wednesday night.

One customer who was in the shop shared details of the “disgusting behaviour” with a local community group on social media today.

They said: “They [the gang] were running amuck in the shop, fleecing the place, stuffing cans of cider underneath the jacket at the till, shouting, kicking a flower stand by the escalator etc.”

The customer was on a video chat with their partner at the time and were targeted by the teens who accused them of videoing the rampage.

“[They were] throwing out that they were under 16, and I am breaching the law together with an avalanche of verbal abuse.

“I am well able to talk back and defend myself, they thought they’d get away with murder. I also had one of them getting into my face asking what I’m gonna do as they’re ‘minors’.

“People witnessed their behaviour and a lovely lady, one of the Lidl staff, moved them out from the premises.”

The horrified local contacted Malahide garda station about the incident and urged others to do the same after being informed there has been an increase in anti-social behaviour in recent weeks.

“I am disgusted and it leaves me thinking what if someone vulnerable was in my place, someone who can’t defend themselves, this has to stop,” they said.

“Portmarnock is a lovely area with a great community, it shouldn’t be ruined by spoiled little brats who are brave in groups. Please report any anti-social behaviour to local garda station.”

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live they attended the area following the reports but there was no one when they arrived.

She said: “Gardaí received report of youths gathered on the Strand Road, Portmarnock on 7 April at approximately 10.30pm.

“On arrival at the scene, no persons were present as reported and no offences were detected.”
