Detectives say that 19 year old accused school shooter, Nikolas Cruz, has confessed to the Valentine’s Day massacre a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
According to the arrest and booking report Cruz discarded his AR-15 rifle and ammunition magazines at the scene and escaped by blending into the crowd of fleeing students, according to arrest reports.
After escaping the campus carnage, stopped for a drink at a Subway inside a nearby Walmart, then headed to a McDonald’s before he was arrested without incident by a heads-up Coconut Creek officer who recognized his description.
Cruz appeared before a judge today via video feed looking small and frail at 5’7″ 130 pounds…far less threatening then when he walked into the school with a rifle and gas mask. The judge ordered him held without bond.
Meanwhile, tonight thousands gathered for a prayer vigil to remember the 17 dead and surviving victims at Pines Trail Park in Parkland, but students, teachers and parents gathered hours before it started to support one another.
People were seen crying, hugging and holding onto each other as they remembered those killed and injured in the shooting.
One of the victim’s mothers, Lori Alhadeff, attended the vigil, where she called on President Trump to do more to keep students safe.
“The gunman, a crazy person, just walks right into the school standing at the window of my child’s door and starts shooting — shooting her and killing her,” Alhadeff said. “President Trump, you say, what can you do? You can stop the guns from getting into these children’s hands! Put metal detectors at every entrance to the schools. What can you do? You can do a lot! This is not fair to our families and our children go to school and have to get killed!”
Alhadeff’s daughter, Alyssa, was one of 17 people killed in the shooting.
