Altus Man Accused Of Child Porn

A 35-year-old Altus man was arrested on complaints of possession of child pornography following a lengthy investigation by two law enforcement agencies.
The man was taken into custody Monday on a complaint of aggravated possession of child pornography. He was awaiting formal arraignment in Jackson County District Court.
Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy confirmed Tuesday that the suspect was arrested following a joint investigation between Altus police and an investigator from the Beckham County Sheriff’s Department, representing the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). Murphy said the task force member contacted Altus police in early March after intercepting child pornography images coming from the suspect’s IP address.
Search warrant turns up more than 100 images
On Monday investigators executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, where computers were seized. Over 100 images of child pornography were found on those computers, Murphy said.

In a separate case, five people were questioned in connection with a burglary in progress reported to Altus police around 3 p.m. Friday at 1101 N. Park. The homeowner told officers that someone had forced entry into the home by kicking in the back door and several people fled in a pickup. Police conducted a traffic stop a short distance from the crime and detained its four occupants. Another person involved who had left the scene on foot was later located in the area of the 700 block of East B Street.
