Ambulance Victoria staff to help Government contact tracing team | #students | #parents

More than 200 Ambulance Victoria staff will help bolster the State Government’s contact tracing team as the COVID-19 crisis deepens in Victoria.

NCA NewsWire can confirm the third year student paramedics and graduates were engaged earlier this year about the possibility of assisting the Department of Health and Human Services.

“We are pleased more than 200 of these students and graduates are willing to assist including performing contact tracing as required by DHHS,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.

“This has no impact on the current workforce and our capacity to provide emergency care to those in need.”

It comes after Premier Daniel Andrews told reporters “every government agency” would be helping DHHS “in some way”.

“This is a clever enemy,” he said on Monday morning.

“This lockdown will continue as long as it needs to.“ If we all keep following those rules, then this strategy will work, we’ll bring it under control, we’ll be able to resume opening up, we’ll get past this very difficult set of circumstances we face.”

Victoria recorded 177 new infections overnight.

Twenty-five cases were linked to known outbreaks and 151 remain under investigation.
