ANTIOCH — A man was shot and injured Tuesday afternoon near Antioch Middle School, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday at West 18th and D streets, Antioch police Lt. John VanderKlugt said. Multiple callers reported hearing four to five gunshots.
A 25-year-old Pittsburg man suffered two gunshot wounds and is expected to survive, VanderKlugt said. The shooting victim showed up at the hospital shortly after the incident and was transported to another area hospital. He was in stable condition Tuesday night.
No one else was injured.
A black SUV and a white truck sped off from the scene, VanderKlugt said. Bullet casings were found at the scene.
The shooting may be gang related. “That’s something that we’re looking into, VanderKlugt said.
The victim was unable to give police much information, VanderKlugt said, and no suspects had been identified as of Tuesday night.
