Corey Medo, 22, is being held for investigation of four counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Each of the four counts involve accusations from one family, sheriff’s spokeswoman Ginger Delgado said.
“We became aware of this about a month ago after a tip from a family in Centennial,” Delgado said. “Now, we’re looking into several other families.”
Medo is alleged to have targeted boys between seven and 10 years-old, the release said.
Medo passed a background check when he posted his profile on babysitting website, according to a sheriff’s arrest affidavit filed with the Arapahoe County District Court. On the website, a family seeking a babysitter will provide the age and gender of their children, and a babysitter can see that information and reach out.
The family who tipped investigators has two boys. Medo babysat one or both of them seven times from December 2018 through November and allegedly molested the children on four occasions, according to the arrest affidavit. The boys told an investigator who specializes in sensitive interviews with children that Medo had touched them inappropriately, the affidavit said.
Medo also worked for the youth basketball program B and B Basketball Academy where he coached seventh and eighth grade teams in the Ralston Valley area and assisted with the fourth grade team, according to the arrest affidavit.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about Medo to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 720-874-8477.
