Six police cars were pictured outside the 40-year-old presenter’s London home, where she lives with her tennis player beau Lewis Burton, in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A Met Police spokesperson told Daily Star Online : “Caroline Flack, 40, of Islington was charged on Friday, 13 December with assault by beating. She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 December.
“This follows an incident at approximately 05:25hrs on Thursday, 12 December after reports of a man being assaulted. He was not seriously injured.”
The man was treated by paramedics.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called yesterday (Thursday 12 December) at 5.28am to reports of a person unwell in Islington.
“We sent an ambulance to the scene and took a person to hospital.”
A man, who is believed to be Caroline’s 27-year-old boyfriend Lewis, was treated for injuries.
Eye witnesses who saw the drama unfold at 5am yesterday told the Star that they heard Lewis call out “Bruv, I was normal until I met her” as police escorted him to a waiting car.
While it is not known which hospital the man, believed to be Lewis, was taken to, or if he has yet been released, police confirmed that he had “sustained injuries”.
But officers said that his injuries were not thought to be serious.
An eye witness to the alleged altercation told the publication that police had been outside Caroline’s home since 5.30am and that Lewis had been taken away.
They said six police vehicles, including a van, were on the scene.
The witness says the heavy police response led them to initially believe officers were hunting for an escaped criminal.
It’s said that a police car was still stationed outside the property at 8pm last night.
Caroline’s representative was unavailable for comment when contacted by the Star.
The presenter is due to fly out to South Africa in the coming weeks to host the new series of Winter Love Island.
Now, she’ll appear before magistrates just two days before Christmas, on December 23.
