BINGHAMTON, NY -

Board members and student leadership spoke about several issues brought on by COVID-19, including capital projects that had been delayed by COVID-19 as well as some that got done earlier.

They also discussed how their budget has to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

One of the many issues the board voted on this evening was a resolution to embrace anti-racism in the wake of current events.

Korin Kirk, Vice President of the Board, described the resolution “Of course we condemn the tragic killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, and the many many others that we don’t know about… We condemn hateful acts and racism and we hope to make improvements to better the district for everyone. Making sure that students and staff feel safe to come here… To learn and to grow… “

The resolution will be upheld by the equity and diversity task force, hoping to improve the district for everyone, and make them feel safe.
