LINDENHURST, NY — A BOCES service provider who had contact with one Lindenhurst High School student and one Daniel Street Elementary School student tested positive for coronavirus, the Lindenhurst School District announced on Thursday. BOCES contacted the local Department of Health and the district contacted the parents of the two Lindenhurst students.

“It is important to note that according to the interview provided by the infected individual, masks were worn, and a distance of 6-feet was maintained at all times while working with the students,” Superintendent Daniel Giordano wrote in a letter to the community.

Giordano also mentioned that the students who were in contact with the service provider are not currently exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. However, in following with local health guidelines, the two students will remain out of school until the health department completes their investigation and contact tracing procedures.

Then, Giordano also announced that unrelated to the BOCES situation, another high school student also tested positive for COVID-19. The student and their sibling have not attended in-person classes since September 18 and cannot return to school without a Release From Isolation letter from the local Department of Health

The NY State COVID report card lists three positive cases at Lindenhurst High School and one positive case at William Rall Elementary School.
