CARE of Southeastern Michigan’s parenting conference has helped several generations – Macomb Daily | #parenting

CARE of Southeastern Michigan’s Parenting Conference has been around so long the children of the participants from previous conferences are now the parents attending the workshops.

This year’s installment is March 5, virtually from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“The CARE Parenting Conference has been a tradition for 27 years, and parents need more support than ever.  We are offering a variety of workshops to meet the needs of parents, educators and families in our community. We appreciate the continued support we receive for this event and welcome everyone to join us,” said Susan Styf, CEO and president of CARE.

This year’s conference invites parents, professionals, and caregivers of all types to participate from the comfort of their own home.

Serving as keynote speaker and starting things off in the morning is Bernie Les, a psychologist with offices in Birmingham and Northville and part-time faculty member at Wayne State University where he teaches couples therapy. Over his 23-year career, Les has counseled children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of clinical presentations, and he has done presentations nationwide on topics including parenting, cultural diversity, stress-management, motivation and many more.

Registrants will hear from Les and other health care professionals covering over 10 workshops.

Throughout the day experts will discuss topics such as:

  • Strategies and solutions to difficult behavior
  • Parenting and Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Mental health topics
  • Building strong connections with your kids
  • Managing anger
  • LGBTQ questions
  • Substance use
  • Bullying
