MENOMONIE — Law enforcement officials arrested a Menomonie man who was wanted on warrants for repeated sexual assault of a child.
According to a news release from the Menomonie Police Department, police apprehended Ted Lopez, 39, 1314 Tainter St., on Thursday in Staples, Minn.
He had been jailed and released on a $55,000 cash bond in June. Lopez failed to appear in Dunn County Court, resulting in the warrant for his arrest.
After the FBI located Lopez it was discovered that he was using the alias Tony Luzon.
Lopez was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held in the Sherburne County Jail in Minnesota. Local officials will start the extradition process in order to bring Lopez back to Dunn County.
Lopez has been charged with repeated sexual assault of a child, causing mental harm to a child, sexual exploitation of a child by filming a boy, causing a child younger than 13 to view or listen to sexual activity, child enticement, exposing a child to harmful material and possession of child pornography. All charges carry a repeater enhancer.
The charges occurred between January 2010 and December 2014 in the village of Boyceville.
Lopez also faces a charge in Dunn County of repeated sexual assault of a child from January 2009 to December 2010.
