DUNNELLON, Fla. (WCJB) –
A Dunnellon man has been charged with three counts of child neglect after police say he drove drunk with the children in the car.
According to the High Springs Police Department, 39-year-old Jerry Gillette Davis was driving from Dunnellon to a residence in High Springs with the three children in the vehicle.
According to written statements from the two older children as well as the reporting party, there was an unreported accident with another vehicle and Davis’ vehicle sustained damage to the front driver’s side.
The statements also claim that Davis had been drinking while driving.
Once Davis arrived in High Springs, the police were called to the residence.
According to the arrest report, Davis said he did not wish to speak to law enforcement.
Davis was booked into the Alachua County Jail on Friday but was released Saturday on his own recognizance prior to his bond hearing.
Davis currently faces three felony charges of child neglect.
