A registered sex offender was arrested on suspicion of abducting and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Prescott, police said Monday.
The girl was walking near Ruth and Whipple streets by the Prescott YMCA on Oct. 18 around 3:30 p.m. when a man forced her into a vehicle, Prescott police said.
Police identified the driver as David Littlehale, 36, of Prescott.
Littlehale is suspected of forcing the girl into his car, assaulting her and driving off, police said.
He then took her home and assaulted her multiple times, seriously injuring her eyes and face.
The teen was able to fight off the man and escape to a nearby home where she hid before Prescott police arrived.
Residents of the house returned to find her hiding there and called police.
Officers went to Littlehale’s home, where he barricaded himself inside and refused to come out for several hours.
The Prescott police SWAT team fired chemical grenades into the house to force him out, where he was arrested.
The girl was hospitalized, but she has since been released, police said.
Littlehale was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of kidnapping, sexual assault and aggravated assault, records state.
