Pair suspected of running theft ring now in jail
MIDDLEBURG – Two members of an organized theft ring that operated in Clay and Duval counties were arrested last week, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Marvin Daniel Finch III, 26, and Carol Ann Hrindich, 51, both of Middleburg, face a litany of charges. Finch has been charged with four counts of trafficking in stolen property and six counts of grand theft, while Hrindich has been charged with initiating, planning, financing or supervising theft of property.
According to the arrest report, the burglary ring operated since May 2018. Surveillance footage from several stores, including The Home Depot in Middleburg, showed items being stolen, which correlated with dates similar items were sold to pawnshops. Items included chainsaws, leaf blowers, generators, grinders, nail guns
Finch was in the Duval County jail on unrelated charges when CCSO interviewed him. According to the affidavit for arrest warrant, Finch admitted to stealing and pawing the items to “feed his drug habit.”
Finch was arrested on Oct. 8, while Hrindich was jailed a day later.
CCSO said two other people are suspected of participating in the thefts.
Woman jailed for forcing girl into backseat of her car
ORANGE PARK – A local woman was arrested for falsely imprisonment of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after she forced a girl into her car.
Brittney Alexsandra Siplin-Riley, 33, of Orange Park, was arrested on Oct. 10 after Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the girl in the backseat of Siplin-Riley’s car during a traffic stop on Blanding Boulevard.
According to the arrest report, the victim and another girl rang Siplin-Riley’s doorbell. That led to an argument and a fight with Siplin-Riley’s roommate. The girl then was “forced” into the car and the roommate sat in the backseat to make sure the girl didn’t try to escape.
The victim an abrasion on her right knee, left hip and right foot, according to CCSO.
Man, 71, busted for fondling young girl for years
MIDDLEBURG – A 71-year-old man was arrested Oct. 9 after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said he fondled a girl on more than one occasion, dating back as many as six years.
Alex Figueroa, of Middleburg, was charged with molestation of a victim 12 years or younger. He was at the Clay County Jail on a $100,003 bond.
According to the arrest report, the victim told deputies on Sept. 9 she was first groped by Figueroa when she was between 9 and 10 years old and again when she was 11. The girl said Figueroa sometimes offered her popsicles to lure her away from other adults.
The Department of Children and Families sent a Child Protection Investigator to look into the accusations. Figueroa denied intentionally touching the girl.
Man arrested after 13-year-old girl said he groped her
MIDDLEBURG – A 30-year-old man was arrested on Oct. 5 for groping a 13-year-old girl, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.
Michael Ralph Barber, of Middleburg, was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior of a child between 12-16 after a girl claimed he grabbed her inappropriately.
Barber was being held at the Clay County Jail with a $250,006 bond.
Woman back in jail for outstanding warrant, violating probation
MIDDLEBURG – A woman wanted in Alabama for on sexual offender warrant was tracked down to Middleburg after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said she violated her probation.
Christina Rechelle McClure, 46, was put in the Clay County Jail on Oct. 1 for not registering as a sexual predator. She also was charged with violation of her probation for assault with a deadly weapon.
McClure, who is being held without bond, is expected to be extradited back to Brewton, Alabama.
