#ChildMolester | Preschool teacher, former rape counselor busted in sex sting

A preschool teacher and a former counselor at a rape crisis center have been busted in an undercover child-sex sting in Ohio, police said.

They were among 14 suspects nabbed Tuesday in a four-day investigation called “Operation Unsportsmanlike Conduct” in northeast Ohio, Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink announced.

Investigators used chat rooms and social media to pose as boys and girls as young as 12 and arranged to meet with the suspects for sex. The alleged pervs were arrested when they showed up to the meeting location, Brink said.

“These predators are out there,” Brink told reporters at a press conference, WEWS-TV reports. “They’re just waiting for the opportunity to meet children.”

One of those busted, Jerry Roeal Ragsdale, was identified as a preschool employee at a YWCA in Canton. He has since been placed on administrative leave and no longer has access to the facility, YWCA officials told the station in a statement.

“The YWCA has contacted the parents and guardians whose children has direct contact with Mr. Ragsdale,” the statement read. “Our utmost concern is the safety and protection of our children who attend our preschool and utilize our services.”

Another suspect, Adam Leidtke, previously worked as a counselor at the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center between 2017 and 2018. He’s currently employed as a care manager for Beacon Health Options, where he has been suspended from his post, the station reports.

The 14 suspects — who range in age from 20 to 73 — face charges including attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. If convicted, they would need to register as a sex offender and could face prison time, prosecutors told WEWS-TV.
