#childmolestor | Convicted sex offender from Oneida faces up to 60 years in prison on child pornography charges


ONEIDA, N.Y. – A 55-year-old registered sex offender from Oneida faces up to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to federal child pornography charges on Tuesday.

Greg Gauthier was charged with one count of distributing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Gauthier admitted to having child porn images on his cell phone, and using social media to distribute them over the internet. Forensics uncovered 71 pornographic images and 98 video files on Gauthier’s phone.

He faces 15 to 60 years in prison, and a term of supervised released from five years to life.

Gauthier is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on Oct. 5.

In 2014, Gauthier was arrested by Oriskany police and convicted of possessing a sexual performance of a child and promoting a sexual performance of a child. He was sentenced to 16 months to four years in prison, and was added to the New York State Sex Offender Registry.
