#childmolestor | Oroville man arrested on child sex abuse allegations from victim he used to babysit – Chico Enterprise-Record

OROVILLE — A man was arrested on suspicion of child sex abuse months after a victim came forward with allegations against the man, who used to be the victim’s babysitter.

The victim contacted the Butte County Sheriff’s Office in September to report he had been molested by his babysitter several years ago.

Detectives investigated the babysitter, identified as Lance Rogers, 34, who is required to register with law enforcement through the Sex Offender Registration Act.

Based on multiple witness interviews and the evidence gathered through those interviews, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Rogers. On Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office contacted Rogers and arrested him on suspicion of continuous sexual abuse of a child and oral copulation of a minor under the age of 14.

Rogers was booked into the Butte County Jail on Tuesday and remains in custody as of Wednesday afternoon, according to custody records. He will be arraigned at the Butte County Superior Court on Friday at 3 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with additional information related to the investigation to contact detective Mary Barker at 538-7671.
