HUDSON — A registered sex offender from Hudson is being held in the Columbia County Jail after police found he was not living at his registered address, Hudson Police Chief L. Edward Moore said Thursday.

Eugene S. Cobbins was arrested Oct. 12 on an active warrant for violating the sex-offender registry requirement, a class E felony, Moore said.

Hudson police received a complaint June 24 from a member of the public that Cobbins was a registered sex offender and was not living at the address where he was registered with the state Division of Criminal Justice Services sex-offender registry, Moore said.

Police detectives determined Cobbins was not living at his registered address.

A felony warrant was issued by Hudson City Court for Cobbins’ arrest in September, Moore said.

Police found Cobbins on Oct. 12 in Seventh Street Park and arrested him, Moore said.

Cobbins was taken to the Hudson police station for processing and was held for arraignment.

He was arraigned by Judge John Connor and sent to the Columbia County Jail, where he is being held without bail until his next court appearance, Moore said.

In September 2019, Cobbins was arrested by Hudson police on a similar felony warrant, Moore said.

Cobbins was convicted Oct. 22, 2019, of attempted sex-offender registry violation, first offense, a class A misdemeanor, Moore said.
