Elizabeth, NJ (June 20, 2022) – On Saturday, June 18th, a pick-up truck blew through a stop sign and crashed into an SUV driven by a mom working for a food delivery service with her twin infants in the backseat, causing it to overturn.
The six people inside the pick-up fled the scene on foot as bystanders rushed to help the trapped family.
The collision occurred at about 11:30 p.m. in the area of Fulton Street and 6th Street. Emergency responders broke down the back window and sunroof in order to extricate the victims.
The children were properly restrained in child safety seats and sustained only non-critical injuries.
Police were able to successfully identify the driver of the pick-up truck. It is unclear what charges they may be facing.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Car Accidents in New Jersey
Although vehicle collisions are deeply upsetting events, they happen every day in New Jersey. Every time you get behind the wheel, you have no way of foreseeing when or if some reckless driver is going to crash into your vehicle, leaving you seriously injured.
A report issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that, since 2015, the United States has seen an uptick of over 11% in traffic accidents. As the country’s population grows unchecked, the number of new, inexperienced, irate, thoughtless, distracted, and reckless drivers on the road grows right along with it. Our congested roadways are just one of the myriad reasons for the higher rate of traffic accidents.
When vehicles collide, there is often more than one victim who sustained grievous bodily injuries and serious damage to their vehicles. If you acted responsibly during a crash, then you will not be held accountable, meaning you will probably be eligible to collect compensation for your losses from both the at-fault driver as well as your insurance company.
Our firm has fought vigorously on behalf of their injured clients to make sure their legal rights are guarded after being harmed in an avoidable accident within the state. After a vehicle collision, contact our vehicle collision lawyers in New Jersey at (800) 469-6476 to see how we can help you.
