#childsafety | Infant class told to stay at home after coronavirus case at Stoke-on-Trent school

Another city primary school is dealing with a coronavirus case.

Weston Infant Academy, in Weston Coyney, has not revealed whether the person who has tested positive is a pupil or member of staff.

But a year group ‘bubble’ of children has now been asked to stay at home for 14 days as a precaution.

In a letter to parents, principal Julie Birchall said: “We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.

“We have carried out a full risk assessment and have identified all those who have been in close contact with the affected case and have recommended they stay at home and self-isolate.”

The infants’ school is part of a federation with Weston Junior Academy.

Mrs Birchall has now told parents that all other classes at both school sites should carry on attending lessons as normal.

Families have been reminded of key safety advice, including what to do if they start to display coronavirus-like symptoms.
