#childsafety | Martinsville High School provides update on code of conduct allegations

It’s been more than two months since Martinsville High School first reported an alleged code of conduct violation.

A recent update from the MSD of Martinsville provided to the Reporter-Times indicates the investigation is still ongoing as the school continues to cooperate with the Martinsville Police Department.

“The MSD of Martinsville is cooperating with the Martinsville PD,” said Suzie Lipps, the Assistant to the Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, Testing and Human Resources. “The MSD of Martinsville relies on the criminal justice system to determine if and when criminal charges will be filed for any illegal act committed.”

As the investigative process continues, the school is adding additional training on hazing, in addition to its current programs.

Brief history of events

On Nov. 5, 2021, Martinsville High School Principal Eric Bowlen released a statement for parents,  detailing its efforts in the investigation process.
