ROOSEVELT, NY — A woman was killed in a car crash in Roosevelt Sunday afternoon, Nassau police said.

According to police, the woman was driving a 2020 Toyota Rav 4 west on Hudson Avenue, between Elysian Terrace and North Long Beach Avenue, when her car left the road and struck a tree. The crash caused her car to catch fire.

The Roosevelt Fire Department responded to the scene and put out the fire. They found the body of the driver still inside the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the investigation into the crash is ongoing. The name of the driver has not yet been released.
