HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – The Central Nebraska Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A) hosted a chili cook-off at the Eagles Club in Hastings. About 15 people in the community went head to head to see who had the best chili recipe.
People who attended the cook-off tried each dish and voted on their favorite and the people with the highest scores received trophies and prizes.
B.A.C.A did this cook-off in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The president said this wasn’t a fundraiser but mostly a way to raise awareness on this issue.
“I mean it’s something that happens that shouldn’t happen, just getting the word out there,” B.A.C.A President Offroad said. “One of those things if you see something, say something and just letting people know B.A.C.A’s out here to help, to help those children.”
B.A.C.A takes children who have been victims of abuse under their wing. They assign someone to be there for them with whatever they need and they also attend court hearings with children for support.
