Clayton Board of Education approves 2022 meeting schedule | News | #Education

JONESBORO — Start time for the Clayton County Board of Education’s 2022 monthly work session has changed. Work sessions will now begin at 5 p.m.

Regular monthly meeting start times will remain the same at 6 p.m.

Board Chair Jessie Goree said the change was made to help accommodate both staff and board members.

Work sessions are largely informational presentations with various department heads answering questions posed by board members.

“Some of our work sessions have been lengthy and we’re keeping our staff late into the evening in some cases,” Goree explained. “They come into work at 8 a.m. and then we’re asking them to come in the same time the next day after a meeting wraps up at 10 p.m.”

She said the earlier time allows board members get the information they need without making the workday longer than need be for staff.

“The change is beneficial for everyone,” she said.

The following is the 2022 BOE meeting schedule:

Spring break is April 4-8. Items will be presented and voted on during the March 28 work session
