#collegesafety | El Camino, Long Beach City College will continue mostly online through spring semester – Press Telegram

Long Beach City College and El Camino College, near Torrance, will conduct most of their instruction online in the spring semester, with uncertainty around the coronavirus pandemic remaining, officials for both institutions announced Friday, Sept. 11.

The colleges, which recently started their academic years, closed their campuses in March, at the outset of coronavirus pandemic, and remained that way since. Some classes that cannot be conducted virtually, such as labs, have continued in-person, but the majority have been taught online.

The announcements from LBCC and El Camino came a day after Long Beach Unified School District and the Cal State University System — which oversees 23 campuses statewide, including in Long Beach and the South Bay — both announced they’d start their spring semesters virtually.
