COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police were negotiating with a man holed up in an apartment building on College Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

The man, who was wanted on several felony warrants, ran into an apartment building in the 400 block of College Avenue, a Columbia Police Department spokeswoman said. Police were negotiating to get him to surrender, she said.

Police say the man is armed and dangerous.

Boone County emergency dispatchers said in an alert earlier Wednesday that College Avenue was closed between Paris Road and Walnut Street because of a “police situation.”

The southbound lanes reopened just before 3 p.m.
