Dear Editor,

I would like to comment here as a candidate for the Parsippany Board of Education.

Hello Parsippany residents, Matt DeVitto here.  I wanted to post a little about myself for you to help you decide your vote.

I’ll start with something from my opening comments from the PTA Candidate’s night.

“I am a life-long New Jersey resident & have been a resident of Parsippany since December 2014 and previously lived from 2001 to 2009 in Lake Hiawatha. One of the reasons we moved back to Parsippany was because we enjoyed living here in addition to the good ratings of the township’s public schools. My wife Christine and I have three children ages 14, nine & nine all attending Parsippany public schools.”

I have had honor throughout my first term as a BOE member of being able to get to know both of my fellow incumbents Debbie Orme & Tim Berrios. Debbie brings experience from her prior time on the Board and helped me understand issues with Transportation on the Transportation committee.   Tim’s knowledge working on both the Critical Issues and Finance committees has allowed me to understand what is happening on them as I have yet to serve on those committees.

I will finish with a little explanation of our family name. In the four generations of our family here in the United States for as far as we can remember or know we have spelled our name DeVitto with two T’s. It is kind of odd I know.  People seem to misspell it a lot but my father, siblings & niece and nephew make sure to correct it.

Please vote by November 3rd, It’s as easy as 1-2-3!

Matt DeVitto, Incumbent Candidate for Parsippany Board of Education.
