One of three people arrested after an alleged drug deal went awry in north Fulton County was released from jail without having to post $25,000 bond, Milton police said Tuesday.
Instead, Tyler Berger signed his name and was advised to “return to school and pass all of his classes,” Milton police posted on the department’s Facebook page. Berger was released from the Fulton County jail Saturday, booking records showed. But it was not known whether he was in school Monday.
At 10 p.m. on Jan. 28, police responded to a report of an armed robbery, and Berger said he had been held at gunpoint by people who were supposed to buy a laptop and smoking device, according to police. But the “buyers” took the items and left in a silver, four-door sedan, later spotted on Freemanville Road.
The car stopped on Fieldstone Trail and four people inside ran, according to police. With the help of the Roswell K9 unit, two of the suspects were apprehended. Samantha Aldana, 19, of Duluth, and Jacob Mitchell, 18, of Norcross, were arrested and charged with armed robbery and possession of a gun or knife during the commission of a felony.
When investigators determined the chain of events started as an alleged drug transaction, Berger, 18, of Canton, was also arrested. Berger was charged with possession with intent to distribute various drugs, including MDMA, Xanax, and marijuana, according to police.
All three were booked into the Fulton County jail, where Aldana and Mitchell remained Tuesday without bond, booking records showed.
