Couple Arrested On Drug And Child Abuse Charges

27-year-old Joshua Paul Bowman and 27-year-old Shelly Renee Bowman, Both of the same Hares Drive, Lincolnton address, were both arrested by Lincolnton Police Officers. Joshua Bowman is charged with Trafficking in Ecstasy, Simple Possession of Oxycodone, Misdemeanor Child Abuse, Concealment of Goods, and First Degree Trespassing. Shelly Bowman is charged with Misdemeanor Child Abuse, Misdemeanor Larceny, and First Degree Trespassing.

On Saturday (November 14) at approximately 7:15 p.m., patrol officers with the Lincolnton Police Department responded to Wal-Mart at 306 North General’s Boulevard in Lincolnton, for a shoplifting in progress call. Upon arrival, officers coordinated with Wal-Mart loss prevention personnel and located a white male and white female along with the couple’s small child. The couple were concealing merchandise in the child’s diaper bag. Officers, upon locating the couple, arrested them and located and retrieved the stolen merchandise. The couple was identified as Joshua Paul Bowman and Shelly Renee Bowman.

Upon searching the offenders, officers located 111 dosage units of MDMA/MDA, better known as “ecstasy” and three dosage units of Oxycodone in the possession of Joshua Paul Bowman. The narcotics were seized as evidence and field tested. Additionally, Joshua Bowman had a knife and a razor blade in his possession. These items were also seized.

Officers transported both suspects to the Lincoln County Magistrate’s Office for processing. Joshua Bowman received a $30,000 secured bond and was placed in the Lincoln County Jail. His first appearance in District Court was scheduled for today (Monday, November 16). Shelly Bowman received a $5,000 secured bond and has her first court date on December 18 in Lincoln County District Court. The child was turned over to a relative.
