Shailendra SrivastavaBHOPAL: Got a problem? Ask Shailendra Srivastava. The 1986 batch IPS officer who retired recently after 34 years in Madhya Pradesh police has decided to make himself available for personalised consultation on legal aspects of problems ranging from cyber bullying to drug abuse.
Plan is to help common man making him aware of his/her legal rights. To start with, he is launching a Facebook page -ASK Shailendra Srivastava. He would remain live on Sundays.
Dr Srivsatava can be approached for legal opinion on various issues like child abuse, road safety and crime against women among others.
He was last posted as DG/Chairman, MP Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation. Srivastava has served in various capacities as Superintendent of Police in various districts, Deputy Inspector General, Inspector General in Zones, Additional Director General and Director General.
As Superintendent of Police, Rajnandgaon, he was awarded for arrest of a top maoist leader in 1994.
“We have seen several cases where people have failed to act for lack of proper knowledge and guidance. I just want to navigate such individuals with my experience” says Dr Srivastava.
He is also known for his expertise on cyber-crimes.
As SP Sagar, he prepared “Sagar Model” of protection of Atrocities on SC and ST. In Bilaspur as Superintendent of Police he pioneered family counselling centres, Yoga Shivirs for criminals, Bal Mitra Thanas (for child offenders), Help lines, Mobile Thanas, Crime Prevention Education Shivirs, e-policing, the Bilaspur Police web site for friendly interface with the public. As DIG, CID (Vigilance Administration) Bhopal he had established a separate Cyber Crime Cell for investigating Computer related crimes, for the first time in Madhya Pradesh.
