#cyberbullying | #cyberbully | WCC launches anti-cyber abuse campaign- Cinema express

The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has launched a campaign against cyberbullying. The collective, which comprises Revathy, Rima Kallingal, Parvathy Thiruvothu and others, has reached out to survivors as well as experts to call attention to this much-debated topic through a series of video testimonials and discussions.

The campaign, titled ‘Refuse the Abuse – It’s In Your Hands’, began with testimonials from Anna Ben and Saniya Iyyappan, who addressed cyber-bullies through a short video. “In continuation with Women In Cinema Collective’s continued efforts to make cyberspaces safe and free of abuse and harassment, WCC is launching an anti-cyber abuse campaign ‘REFUSE THE ABUSE – It’s In Your Hands’,” said the group in a statement.

The campaign will have several cyber experts and survivors sharing their stories, their expertise and experiences.

“WCC seeks to highlight the cultural aspect of cyber abuse as it has a long-standing impact on society. Through the campaign, WCC seeks to urge all stakeholders of the film industry and society at large to find solutions to this growing menace and exhorts every individual to refuse to allow the abuse to happen. WCC believes it is time to speak up and is gathering voices who want to say their piece,” added the statement.
