They may face stiff competition: When a member recently departed, eight people filed to fill the slot.
New Millburn Board of Education member Neetu Salhotra was to be installed at the Monday meeting. At a previous meeting, the school board heard from Salhotra and seven other people interested in filling the open term.
Details Of Running
The Millburn school board consists of nine members who each serve a three-year term. Candidates will be running for the three seats currently held by Oyin Owolabi, Danielle Prieto and Neetu Salhotra. The board is non-partisan. The election is Nov. 2.
Candidates must file a nominating petition with the Essex County Clerk with at least 10 signatures, one of which must be the candidate’s own signature.
The New Jersey School Boards Association provides a Candidate Kit on their website at www.njsba.org, including the nominating petition, as well as online briefings addressing leadership, legal issues, and the role of a board member. The page also includes information about the New Jersey School Ethics Act and important dates in the school election process.
