CLERMONT, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) — A teen is facing charges after making threats of a school shooting on Instagram, authorities said.
Authorities said the post depicted a boy with two handguns threatening a shooting at a Lake County high school.
Multiple media outlets report that a 14-year-old Clermont boy posted the photo on Instagram on Monday night, along with a caption that said he would be “shooting up” Groveland’s South Lake High School. Deputies say another student saw the post and alerted officials.
Authorities say the boy in the picture is not the local teenager, but instead an Ohio boy who was charged in a shooting.
Deputies say the boy told them that the post was a joke and he removed it about 15 minutes after posting it. The Associated Press generally doesn’t identify juveniles accused of crimes.
