Ex ‘worship minister’ pleads guilty in Google child-porn case

A former “worship minister” for an Orange County church entered a guilty plea Monday in a child-porn case.

Mark Daniel DeHaven, 33, pleaded guilty in an Orlando federal courtroom to a charge of receiving child pornography.

He is scheduled for sentencing at 9 a.m. May 21.

He faces at least five and as much as 20 years in federal prison.

He also faces possible fines of up to $250,000.

DeHaven was fired as a part-time worship leader at Emmaus Church in Winter Garden after pastor David Netzorg learned about the police investigation last year.

DeHaven remains held without bond at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford.

Google notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that child pornography was “sent, or attempted to be sent” on DeHaven’s Google Mail account — the same one he used to advertise his music worship ministry website — on March 2, 2014, records show.

Investigators with a warrant searched his home on June 19.

Investigators found 25 images and 51 movie files of child porn on his Apple MacBook, federal records allege.
