Ferguson remains APS Board president, Baucher stays as board VP | #Education

ADRIAN — While nearing the home stretch of its superintendent search process for Adrian Public Schools, the Adrian Board of Education began its 2022 regular meeting schedule with some housekeeping duties to tend to.

Most notably, during the board’s annual organizational meeting Monday, the appointment of officers for the year were approved, which saw Beth Ferguson retain her seat as president and Jon Baucher continuing as board vice president.

There will however, be a new secretary for 2022, as trustee Mike Buku was approved for the role, succeeding Michael Ballard, who was named the board’s acting secretary in Buku’s absence.

The board also approved its meeting schedule for the year, which will follow the same format as the past year. Meetings are set for 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of the month in room B-100 at Adrian High School, 785 Riverside Ave., unless otherwise noted.

The board also approved these items during its organizational meeting:

• The names of all institutions Adrian Public Schools will bank with during the year, as well as the names of school officials who can sign off on accounts and checks on behalf of the district. Banks that the district will utilize include Huntington Bank, Premier Bank, The Michigan Class Pool, and Michigan Liquid Asset Fund Plus.
