For the third year in a row, a team of chefs from St. Petersburg has defeated a competing Tampa squad to win Metropolitan Ministries’ Food Fight charity cooking competition.
The result was revealed Thursday night as part of a stream featuring action from the battle pre-taped at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa. The winning teams were not told who judges selected as the winner until tonight. With the victory, St. Petersburg moves to 3-1 in the event.
Unlike past years, the event featured no spectators as organizers worked to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, which altered everyone’s life in mid-March. And unlike past years, this year’s event was free to attend (read: view), which means the nonprofit needs help reaching its $150,000 goal, which goes towards funding 100 student scholarships in Metropolitan Ministries’ Culinary Arts Program for 2021.
