Former Ascutney Resident Sentenced on Child Pornography Charges

Rutland, Vt. — A former Ascutney man was sentenced on Thursday to 40 months in federal prison for possessing child pornography, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release.

Kevin Gobin, 56, now of Lempster, N.H., pleaded guilty in March to one count of possessing child pornography. He faced a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Gobin, a plumber, was sentenced on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Rutland.

FBI agents in 2014 executed a search warrant at Gobin’s residence and found thousands of images and videos of child pornography on digital devices, according to the release.

“The FBI also found evidence that Gobin belonged to a website that catered to people who wished to trade in child pornography, and that Gobin directly traded child pornography with other offenders over the internet,” the release said.
