Faulkner, who began working in Duplin County Schools on Nov. 16, 2001 had no prior disciplinary record during his employment.
“The school system holds all employees to high ethical and professional standards as the safety of all students and staff is our priority,” said Dr. Austin Obasohan, Duplin County Schools superintendent.
“As soon as we learned of the allegation on Nov. 19, 2021, he was immediately suspended with pay pending investigation.”
Obasohan said Faulkner resigned from his position on Dec. 31. Duplin County Schools have been fully cooperating with the investigation of the former teacher.
According to TV media outlets, the student was in one of Faulkner’s classes.
